Hola/Hello

My name is Dr. Araceli Leza ( She/Her/Ella) and I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist in California. I’m Mexican-American, bilingual, and bicultural. I was born and raised in San Diego, and I have been living in San Francisco for the last 5 years. Being a second generation immigrant, I understand first-hand the how the feeling of non-belonging, oppression, and intergenerational trauma can impact our spirits and livelihood. I also understand the societal or cultural stigma associated with seeking therapy. I intentionally wanted to start my biography with my identities. I believe our identities impact every dimension of our existence. Everyone has their own experiences of discrimination and oppression. I am passionate about integrating our unique experiences with identity into the core of our collaborative work. Some of my personal interests include being in nature, travel, art, comedy, animals, photography, yoga, caring for my dog Kiwi, exploring neighborhood hidden gems, and social justice.
Two hands clasping in a firm handshake, one with dark skin and one with light, set against a background of blue and orange wavy patterns, illustrating the collaborative and inclusive nature of the therapy practice.

A little more in depth view of my therapeutic mindset

I recognize that deep-seated shame often acts as a barrier, preventing us from sharing our struggles openly. The silent burden of suffering can be both isolating and painful. In therapy, I extend an invitation to healing, placing a strong emphasis on attunement throughout the process. My commitment is to empower your sense of agency, encouraging your active involvement in establishing your goals. Regular feedback check-ins will be conducted to ensure our collaborative efforts align with your evolving needs. I believe that therapy is most effective when sessions are approachable creating an environment within the therapeutic relationship supportive of bringing about the desired changes.

Meet Kiwi

Since we're meeting virtually, I'll be working from home, and my dog Kiwi might pop in from time to time. You might catch a few snorts in the background.

Kiwi, a charming French Bulldog with a brindle coat, stands alert and ready for fun against a backdrop of lush greenery, embodying the friendly and comforting presence in the virtual therapy sessions.
